a beautiful day
We had such a wonderful Thursday. Lately we have been dropping Ryan off at co-op on Thursday and then having field trips for the morning. We come home and do school work while Caitlyn rests and watches a movie.
Today we went to the book store, then to their favorite pizza restaurant, and last to one of our favorite parks. Such a wonderful morning. We really enjoyed the weather today. It was in the high 60's and super sunny.
Caitlyn fell in the creek so we had to come home and get dry clothes. It was really getting time to come home anyway though... I really love the first two images. She couldn't wait to go play in the creek with her stick.
We just got home from gymnstics. Tonight Caitlyn told her Coach he is the best coach she eber had and that she lubs him bery much. He hugged her and told her thank you for always making me happy and putting a smile on my face. How sweet....I wanted to journal it. She also got to see her Nana and Papa for the first time in a couple of weeks because they have been a bit under the weather. She has asked for them many times every day... She hugged them and kept telling them how much she had missed them and loved them. She is such a loving child. She really is. All of my children are big on hugging and I try to talk regularly about other peoples "personal space". I noticed tonight at gymnastics the other little Hunan girl is now getting in their space as much as they were getting in hers, so I guess she is comfortable with them now. Hugs and squeezes and giggles from all 3 of them the entire class.
Thankful Thursday
A little journal about Ryan you can skip if you want...Its really for me.
Today I am especially thankful for how well Ryan is doing with his school work . He is really showing some maturity and really enjoys spending time with is dad and I. He probably wouldn't admit he enjoys our company, but it obviously shows. He is in no huge hurry to drive independently even though he has a brand new car in the basement! Some think I should push probably; but you know, he can drive and he drives well, but if he is not in a hurry to drive on his own why should I shove him out of the nest just because he is 16? If he enjoys riding with us, then I don't mind going to the extra effort to ride with him here and there while he drives. I see so many teens that can't wait to be on their own and go go go. I see many get in big trouble too, and get in situations they can't handle and make wrong decisions.... So I am really happy when I look at the whole picture... good grades, good attitude most of the time, is he ever a teen that thinks me me me? Sure, most all of them are very self involved at times I think, but in all I am really pleased with how things are coming along. He is really a good kid.
So thank you Heavenly Father for writing your word, your ways, in all of my children's hearts...
Thank you for crowning my children with your tender mercies. Thank you for preserving them from all evil... Amen...

a few more of everyone later... I had no more blogging time!

Oh these are great pictures! I try to get Lottie and Emma to hug more! I am extremely huggy and never respect anyone's personal space. I hug strangers! And Elisabeth fusses at me for it all the time.
You must be so proud of Ryan and you know what? James NEVER wanted to drive even after he got his license and his own car. He and his friends would argue over who "had" to drive. Saying things like, "No way man, I had to drive last time". Cracks me up!

Well, I just couldn't skip the part about Ryan. You must be so incredibly proud of the young man he is. I was the total opposite...ready to go at 16 and my parents had to reign me in. I love that your sweet son loves his family so much and enjoys special time together.
The pictures of Caitlyn are beautiful, too!!! Such a sweet family you are!

Caitlyn sounds like such a loving little girl!! That was so sweet what she told her coach...I am sure it made his day!!
I enjoyed hearing more about Ryan!! Oh, Connie...you are so fortunate that he is not in a hurry to drive...how I wish that was the case with my older 2! It is soooo stressful when teens start driving...and the insurance gets very expensive, too! I truly feel kids should not be able to drive until the age of 18 when they have a bit more maturity!!

sounds like a perfect day!
I didn't want to drive either, it's just not something I enjoy and GOOD for you for not pushing him to drive on his own.
I would so love to get together with you. I'm guessing you homeschool with the co-op, since we do it might make thing easier to arrange. :)

Oh Connie, those pictures are spectacular. I also love the first two.
How beautiful your message for Ryan. You're such a wonderful mommy that there is no doubt that you will have amazing kiddos.

The first two pics are my favorites. But where is the one of Caitlyn falling in the creek? LOL! Caitlyn looks and sounds like an absolute doll.

Sounds like such a great day! The pics are so cute.
What a blessing that Ryan is a "likable" teen :) I think you're right not to push. The longer they stay in the nest, the better!
Have fun tonight!

Wonderful pictures!
And what a great 16 yr old you have there! One can only hope that their son is like that at 16. My son is almost 11 and I worry now about the day he will start driving!

What sweet words about your oldest son. I am forever thinking about the men that my boys will grow into. I pray that they will be responsible and wise & generous and compassionate. ((sigh))
Gorgeous pictures!

Connie - I think this is one of my favorite posts of yours of all time...I love the tenderness with which you spoke about Ryan. Praise God for his wonderful success. It is miraculous to watch God weave His delicate, yet powerful self into our children. And for the record, I am a hugger and Emily is a hugger...sigh, bet you could not have called that one!
Have a wonderful week, friend.
Love,
Heather
