Favorites from Sunday

A few random bullets:
We are learning a new bible verse each week. We are doing it alphabetically. This week is the letter A
Psalm 18:30
As for God, His way is perfect.
We are going with very short ones so that even Caitlyn can join in.
The Treasures are LOVING the preschool version of UNO. We are playing with Clifford the Big Red Dog cards and they want to play all day. Caitlyn has us all saying UNA instead of uno. Jacob enjoys playing Chutes and Ladders out of all the games we have been playing. In the beginning, he was very upset to land on a chute, but the more we play he has adjusted to the fact that its part of the game.
We are having a warm day each week now so that is making the indoor days much more bearable. Last week we had a wonderful day at the park one day, it was around 70. Today however, it is 20-40.
Ryan decided he was ready to get his drivers license this past Friday. So he drove himself to co-op today.
I am so glad he did not do it right on his birthday. I feel he really improved in his confidence and abilties in the past 6 months. He has a girlfriend that is a very intelligent girl that moved here from Canada. She goes to our local fine arts school and plays the French horn. She LOVES to read and they enjoy one anothers company.
We are having spaghetti for dinner. It is simmering right now.
I bought the girls some darling Spring clothes at Children's Place this past week.
I also bought Caitlyn a Matilda Jane skirt for $14 dollars on ebay!
She wore it to church Sunday. It is large enough that she will get a couple of years out of it.
The message at church Sunday was about low roaders, middle roaders and high roaders. Many of us are middle roaders. Meaning that we are nice if others are nice to us, but Jesus said LOVE your enemies, that even the unsaved love those who love them. We need to remember to show the love of Jesus to the unlovely and take the high road.
Caitlyn is still not going to her class at church. She sits with us in big church.
She is not comfortable staying with anyone except my mom and it has to be at our house where she feels secure.
Caitlyn is beginning to love having stories read to her, she has carried around Princess books all day, yesterday and today. She also loves the bible stories at night. She does not sit very still. She has to move around, but is listening. We are working on the sitting down part.
We are reading Little Pear for our read-aloud right now. It is a book about a little Chinese boy. It is just a light, fun read. We are also reading short missionary stories for young readers. They are called Heroes For Young Readers. We read about Lottie Moon and her love of the Chinese people. Chloe LOVED this book. This week we are reading about Cameron Townsend and how he translated the Bible for Guatemalan's and eventually had a world wide ministry that invloved translating the bible in other languages. We tried the Missionary Stories with the Millers from our Sonlight program but some of the stories were a bit too comlex for us right now and downright scary, so these seem a better fit for us, for right now.

Hi Connie, you are going to have to teach me how you do your pictures like that. I am sure it is a seperate program right???
All of your pictures are always so beautiful, but then again look at how gorgeous your subjects are. I personally love the black and white "HUG" picture on your sidebar, that pic is just priceless.
As far as your message at church, loving and praying for my enemies is one of those places I struggle with, sometimes it is really hard to pray totally from your heart an not out of necessity. Do you understand what I am saying?
At church we do alot of Lottie Moon collections throughout the year and I think it is awesome that you are teaching your children about people like that.
As for my news on thursday, it has nothing to do with China. I am sorry I should have made that clear. But the news is still really gooood!!! Have a great week!
Love, Kristy

I just KNOW that first picture is for me;)
Sara at Football & Fried Rice got a great deal on a Matilda Jane dress for Mya too on e-bay...the skirt is precious.
What a wonderful week so far with your treasures. Those missionary books sound just great and yes, I agree some are way too much!
I am so proud of him for waiting for his license and oh how exciting...a girlfriend. I am still praying for Elisabeth to find someone to spend time with. I trust Him though.
I have been eyeing those cute spring dresses at children's place also....that store is my absolute weakness.
The message on Sunday is one worth hearing. I think this is hard for alot of people. I learned this as a Pastor's wife...I am thankful the Lord let me experience that so that I could be blessed by truly loving my enemies.

Love the little bullets especially that Sunday message. Kate has that skirt too. but she is kind of refusing to wear anything but dresses these days....some days it is a battle.
Kate won't go to Sunday school either. Oh well----she is pretty good in church.

Love the photos, Connie. It took the Tongginator a long time before we could leave her with someone. (I think almost three years? I can't remember exactly.) And I am totally stealing your photo idea of taking photos of the Tongginator taking photos of me. LOL.

Thanks for this wonderful post, Connie! I loved hearing what you all have been up to! Congrats to Ryan on getting his DL. I know this is not an easy thing for us Moms!
We read Little Pear when I HS'd Ryan!
What a great idea to do verse memorization by alphabet. Do you find the short/simple ones by yourself.. or are they in your curriculum?
So glad to hear updates on all of your Treasures!!

VERY thoughtful post. Especially liked your reminder of taking the high road, and not getting stuck in the middle road.
As always, great photos! Love the outfits!

I agree with Kristy you need to teach us how to do a layout. I just love all of them!
We've been playing alot of Disney Princesses Old Maid. I'll have to look for Cliffords Uno.
Thanks for the tip on MJ and ebay. Looks like quite a $$ savings.
Have a great week!

What beautiful pictures! Connie, you are an inspiration to me. I wish we lived closer. Where did you get the idea to do ABC order verses? I love that idea!

Love the pictures. Miss Addison dropped out of preschool and ballet. She will not leave our side. I figure one day she will not one to be near me so I'm enjoying the moment.
Love the skirt!

Loved reading you random posts. Are you using a devotion/book for the scripture ideas or choosing them yourself. I am ready to start Spicy Girl with memorizing scripture and I like the ABC thing.
Need to go check out The Children's Place. I always love what they have.
