Summer Fun

may2308

may23087

ok I made a summer look... I don't know how long I can stand it... My other look is like home to me and I miss it sometimes. I think it reflects who I am the most is why I love it. I do love these photos I used on the header though... they reflect alot of the fun we have had over the Spring...

Rainy today... The girls are playing dress up and camp out.
Jacob is on the computer.

Yesterday we made a quick trip to the zoo because my sweet Treasures have just become too "one with nature"... Saturday morning they walked in with a bucket and said, "look mommy we found this snake and we want to keep it." You all might have heard my scream of "get it out of here!" I then got a shovel and hit the thing repeatedly and got it off of my porch somehow. Daddy is never home when you need him.;) I tried to explain that they are dangerous and you must use caution and all that good stuff but Jacob just started crying and asked Chloe if she would take care of Allie when he died. UGH!... I continued to explain you are NOT going to die because you picked it up, I am just trying to get you to understand in the future don't pick something up if you are unsure if it is poisonous. I really attempt to not use fear when teaching my children and was trying to get the point across without frightening them.
So we usually avoid the reptiles on zoo trips because I do not find them very pleasant but I wanted to educate my little sweeties on the dangers of just picking up any creatures. I hope I got through their little noggins. They just love going on hunts for things, so I am definitely going to have to watch them and continue reminding them.

  • Kids are so LITERAL! I am laughing at Jacob's reaction to the snake! And good for you Momma Bear for being an excellent snake destroyer!!!

The other night I told Lottie that I was pooped and she said, "You pooped in your big girl panties?" I kept trying to explain that pooped can also mean tired but she kept trying to pull my shorts down to check! LOL

Oh my...a snake in a bucket in your house...caught by your kiddos.....oh dear! Sounds like my Chelsi would fit right in at your house! hee-hee! She also has no fear...when it comes to creatures of any kind! She does understand the poisonous stuff though....but truly she is not afraid of anything!
Very pretty pages too....the treasures look so refreshed in the pretty pool water!!!
    Ahhhhh......summer!!!
    Love you,
    Denise

  • Love the new look but the old one is wonderful too! Kids crack me up how literal they are...we were at the store the other day and Annslee wanted to walk and I told her to stay right beside me..she just kept touching EVERYTHING so I pointed to a shopping cart and said "Annslee, that cart has your name written all over it!" She walked over, walked around it and said "No Annslee on it" ha ha

YUCK to a snake in the house or outside for that matter! Being where you are you may listen to Rick and Bubba...snake = the devil's handpuppet...LOL

  • I have made my way to your blog through a mutal blog friend "Football and Fried Rice" Sara....and I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your blog spot. It is so nicely put together and seeing yours makes me want to make over mine. My blog spot is very boring and this is so new to me anyway. Did someone do your blog set up for you or did you use a digital scrapbooking method?

You have a beautiful family! I may stop by again soon....Many Blessings to you all!

  • Love the new header! Funny story about the snake. Up here we don't have any poisonous snakes - too darn cold for them! :) Nothing you can pick up that will hurt you, thankfully. Black bears or coyotes... that's another story!

  • cute story--my kids-yes,Sara included--used to play in the timber and along the creek when they were kids. they were always bringing home critters and trying to make them into pets. fortunately, most wild critters don't fair well in captivity. i don't know about poisonous snakes in your area but here, they are few and far between. timber rattlers are the only real concern.
i do not like snakes but i despise mice much more and snakes control the mouse population. kids do have adventurous spirits and we love that about them, right? it is also good to give them a healthy concern about the safety of their actions! you did a good thing in telling them about the danger in picking up strange animals.

A snake in a bucket! I thought I heard some loud shrieking yesterday, but wasn't sure where it was coming from. ha ha Those are some brave Treasures!
