my little treasure

This post is a little rambly and just from my emotional highs from today I suppose... While these thought are so fresh in my heart I want to journal them for my Chloe...

Today Chloe had a dental check up. 3 cavities. ugh. This is the second time she has had to get dental work done and I feel so awful while she is in the chair. Ryan never had a cavity, Jake has had one, while Chloe has had 7 now.:( The dentist says its obviously from lack of nutrition in the womb. I still feel some were due to mommy's bad decision of allowing her to sleep with a cup at night. I hear all the warnings, but it brought her comfort and sleep and with an eleven year old and 2 babies I did whatever it took to get them and me sleep. Plus Chloe was and still is tiny. She just broke 30 lbs this year. She was 29lb at 4. The most she ever drank from a bottle is 4 oz, so she needed to eat at night longer than some babies. However she no longer sleeps with a cup and the past year she had 2 good checkups. We are very diligent about brushing before bed. They had an opening in the dental room so after her check up they went ahead and did most of the work. She has to go back again for the most minor cavity and to get sealants on her 5 yr molars. She is SUCH a trooper during the work. I am so proud of her. I never see Chloe less than full speed. That's why seeing her in the dental chair gets to me... She is SO healthy and strong. Only one sick visit to the dr since she has been born. I give all the glory of that to God. He keeps these kids well and I thank Him for His mercy and blessing of health. She is truly a ray of sunshine and brings joy wherever she goes. She is all smiles all the time. I know I have written this before, but its so true and so fresh in my heart today. The precious gift my heavenly Father gave me without me saying one prayer.

I had prayed for a Jacob for soo long, I was out of prayers at the time... Danny and I had just suddenly at the last steps of Jacob's adoption decided, why not a baby girl too? What a wonderful perfect decision it was.

  • What a beautiful post. Do you scrapbook on paper, or just on the computer? I was a hardcore scrapbooker, but the pages you make on the computer are so beautiful, makes me not want to take out my scissors and paper stuff! What software do you use?

  • She truly is gorgeous from her head to her cute little toes. I think her inner beauty just shines through her as well. She is a captivating little star, I can see why you are so proud to be her Momma. I am sorry she has had so many cavities, it is discouraging to them when they do so well with brushing and flossing.

  • You know what, some kids just have soft teeth and it may be totally genetic period. I happen to be one of those. Walked into a dentist office and BAM! cavities. Don't guilt yourself into believing you did or didn't do something or her birthmom did or didn't. There is enough mommy guilt so don't go there.

  • Oh she is just so beautiful. I am loving that outfit. Is that by Trish Scully? I am a sucker for children's clothes. Mal dresses much better than me. :)
We are going to the dentist soon and I am curious to see if Mal has any cavities. I dread it.
Your posts are just great. I love your blog.

  • Beautiful pictures and YES! I also loooove her cute outfit.

We want the very best for our children and we do the best we can...and sometimes they still get cavities and the like. Don't beat yourself up about it. You are a fabulous, wonderful mommy!

  • She is so beautiful and your post is special... your heart shines through your words...Oh, how the Lord longs to bless us with joy that exceeds our wildest imagination...
God Bless You and your babies...
(I understand what you mean about the "comfort" thing... I often find myself doing things to try to compensate for my not being there for my children in the beginning of their lives.... I so want to take away and try to make up for what they went through... I would have given her the cup too.)

  • I saw your comment on Adele's blog and wanted to say hi. So you have a Spicy Girl too? We stayed in Changsha, but S.G. is from Yueyang City. Your daughter is beautiful.

I did the cup at bedtime too, and S.G. has 2 cavities. One of them will need a crown.

  • Connie, I received your shower gift in the mail and wanted to leave you a note thanking you for it. It is completely unexpected and I love it very much. It's a testament to how supportive this adoption community is. I love the socks and slippers, but my favorites are the CD and luggage tage. Everything will get very good use I'm sure.
You daughter is a beauty BTW.
    thanking you again,
    Elizabeth

  • She is breathtaking, a treasure indeed. What a beautiful, heartfelt post.

We also just found out Linzi has two cavities. I know she probably has soft teeth, or maybe nutritional defeciencies from her earlier life may have contributed. But as a momma, I can't help but wonder if I could have prevented it. She will have them filled next week and I am just so sad for her. :(

  • Great look to the blog! I love love those outfits, did you make them?

Poor Chloe's teeth - lol yes liquids at night, but pre-natal nutritian does also play a role and genetics. So in theory she could have a triple wammy - can you tell 2 of my best friends are dentists???!!!!

  • Wow...those outfits look amazing on them. I am going to have to check this site out. I love trendy clothes! Sorry about the dentist...I know you wish you could have been in the dentist chair for her.
