Monday

It is a beautiful day. We have been out playing most of the day. Its hot, but we really enjoy the warm weather. Danny is home working on the house today and has 3 little helpers.

Ryan did ok at his swim meet over the weekend. Out of seven events he had 1 disappointment and it wasn't tragic, just inexperience. He had never swam a 200 before in a race and was not sure how to pace himself. It still wasn't awful, he just came in a few seconds after the other 7 guys, but you know how you can escalate those type situations in your mind. He had one more at the end of the day; a different stroke, but still a 200 and he did very well. I was so glad he ended on a successful note. This is only his 2nd long course meet, which is very different from Summer league swimming. You are swimming with lots of others who have practiced their entire lives; many seeking scholarships. It's pretty intense. It doesn't matter how old your kids are; if they feel hurt or worried you feel it with them. I was so glad he had people encouraging him yesterday to continue and keep trying. He is so much like me at that age in many ways, I know what he is feeling most of the time...

These pictures are some of my favorites, I say that every time don't I? :) But seriously, I had just thrown Caitlyn's hair up quickly so she could eat a Popsicle, she was playing out in the afternoon and I snapped them and they were beautiful. I scrapped them in color too. I will post the color tomorrow. I love them. The last is my true fav.

  • B&W pics are so cool, now I have one more thing to add to my ever growing list of pages to make. I wish my kids cooperated for pictures as well as Caitlyn. Ethan and Evan run for the hills so Erin thinks that is what you are supposed to do. :o)

  • What a princess with her clippie and earrings! She will soon learn that hair clippies are of utmost importance! I wear one almost everyday! What a beauty she is!
I know you must be so proud of your son at the swim meet! Now he'll have more experience in the 200!

  • Connie - The pics of Caitlyn are gorgeous. Way to go Ryan too - that competition stuff is stressful, sounds like he handled it all well.
