swimming Sunday

The kids went swimming Sunday for a bit. The water is still VERY cold. But they were all insistent. Even while shaking and turning blue they were stating they weren't cold. Caitlyn despises the baby float. Past the p0int of just a tantrum stubborn fit, more of a begging pleading I just can't wear it, PLEASE don't try and make me kind of fit. Insisting it go back into the pool house. I got her arm bands out and she said she would wear them. I honestly think it reminds her of being stranded in a walker when she was a baby in the orphanage and she wants no part of ever being stuck again. It is way deeper than just an independence 2 yr old thing. Its something I know I need to give into with her and comfort her. It is simply amazing the things our children can remember from being very small, deep in their minds. I want to also say here I am sure Caitlyn's caregivers did the best they could and took good care of our sweetie. I am very thankful to them. They felt it was a treat to get to be in the walkers and out and about. Caitlyn just seems to remember wanting out after a while and no one getting her out. I am sure they did their very best at taking care of her. I know it. I prayed that she would be taken care of and I know God honored that prayer.

Anyway... they had fun Sunday, and I am looking forward to the water warming up! :)

  • I bet the water was cold! I can relate to what you said about the float and walker. We have had our own issues to deal with. It is amazing how somethings do trigger unhappy memories.

  • That was really insightful of you to pick up on the float issue. Thank you for sharing! Looks like fun swimming! Our neighborhood pool opens in May and we can't wait!
