  • Absolutely LOVE this LO!

Oh -So many kids movies and we have to find one that is good for big ones and wee ones :D well - we just saw Speed Racer and LOVED it! It was family friendly and entertaining. the colors were bright and engaging. While there were some more mature themes in the movie - brother sacrifices his identity to protect his family - they went right over the heads of my toddler.

    Love your giveaway :D
    Ladybug hugs,

  • Connie,
This photo and the scrapbooking are both gorgeous!!! I just LOVE it!

We love the Gigi, God's Little Princess books by Sheila Walsh (including videos). They are cute stories with great illustrations about a little girl who believes she is a princess, with an underlying message of faith. Both girls love the books and videos. (We purchased ours at our local Christian bookstore.)

  • Hi! I adore the picture of your sunning "treasure"!

My favorite children's book is "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. It is about sacrificial love. I cry every time I read it. It is a beautiful story.

  • Do you do Sonlight? ME TOO!!! They are actually based out of Colorado!! I LOVE it :)

Anyways, my favorite kids' movie is "The Little Mermaid". Love it. And our favorite kids' book? We liked "Is your mama a llama?" when the kids were little. It's cute.

  • I have to pick one?! Came from Lily Mei's blog I think...saw you on quite a few I frequent. :)

I think my favorite kids movie, and it's PG, so I guess it counts? Is The Princess Bride. I love that it has great "quotes", the good vs. evil, the princess, and the romantic ending. If we are talking G, then choosing a Pixar movie is the hardest.

book? Just in Case you Ever Wonder by Max Lucado. I think I read it to my kids multiple times a year. Next in line is Oh the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss.

(and, another Sonlight fan! and Switched on Schoolhouse AND Horizons....)

  • I am going to play this one for sure (sorry for not getting in to visit... I have been busy at work)... my fave kids movie... well, of course... Peter Pan... why do I like it... cause Tinkerbell is in it and that little pixie is just like me... has an attitude, is sassy, jealous (I can admit my faults) and is very loyal and to top this whole thing off... I have just 'discovered' the song 'Cinderella' and it makes me cry each time - everyone was talking about it but I had never heard of it and so thought I would listen to it to see what it was all about... oh... and I need something to relax to coming home from work... really good answer I think... hehehehehe

  • Oooohhh....how fun!!!!

I've gotta say that our favorite book here is "If you give a mouse a cookie". The kids have heard it ummm...probably 1000 x, they know it by heart, and yet ask for the same book everytime it's story time!!

I also want to say that your little sweetie looks like a movie star laying back on the innertube.
    Soooo cute!

    Hugs,

    Ohilda

  • Can we play if we live overseas?

Well our favourite children's (and for grownups too) book altough Miss B is still a little young is:
"The little Prince" by Antoine de St-Exupéry...When we wanted to wed back in 1993 the laws in Switzerland (where we were living at the time) stated that one has to marry in the town hall before marrying religiously. We were asked to chose a text that had nothing to do with politics nor religion...and we chose the passage from his famous quote:

"...And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye."

A book for children, for teens, for young Adults...for all

Movies: We love Ratatouille, cause we love the attention to details in this film as well as all the characters. We love Paris, we love food. We also love the message behind it although I don't think kids younger than 7 could really understand it.

Both the book and the film are for the entire family...the youngers and the older ones to be read / watched by parents or Grand-parents.

    Voilà!

I love you blog, I love the way you put your pictures together...how about giving your readers a little tuition?

  • Hi Connie,

Ok I will give Erin's favorite movie of the moment as it changes ever so often. She is hooked on Mulan II and loves any story with a Disney princess in it. Just read her any book and she is happy!

I have to tell you, the other day I was at the gas station and never pay much attention to the music playing. This day however, the music made it through my busy thinking head and it was SCC Cinderella on regular radio. I almost stood there bawling while pumping gas.

  • Hi Connie, love the summer pic and it's layout!!
Our favorite book is "The wonderful pigs of Jillian Jiggs" and our movie would be "Charlotte's Web". My girls just adore watching this, almost as much as their Mom, LOL.

  • Not a lurker but this is too fun to pass up. Favorite kids books.....HARD, I love so many. Favorite picture book would be between "How To Make An Apple Pie and See the World" (great book that covers so much for educational purposes) or "Caps For Sale" (I love to watch my girls get into this book and immitate the man and the monkeys - just a sweet classic) or "Ferdinand" (A book that is so helpful at teaching young children to be themselves and enjoy the things they enjoy...very sweet) My favorite chapter book is "The Tale of Despereuax" by Kate DiCamilo (a wonderful story, beautifully written and shows courage in being different.) My favorite kids movie is "Peter Pan" this has been my favorite since childhood, I feel having children has enabled me to never grow up just like Pan himself. :o)

  • I Love You Like Crazy Cakes, a friend of mine gave this to me when we started our adoption and i had not heard of it yet. Doug still cant read it, ahhhhh.

By Blogger Marla, at June 25, 2008 at 3:31 PM

  • My girls love books. It don't matter what kind as long as it is a book.
I would have to say any Disney books is a hit for my girls. We have a huge collection of those.
Brooke's favorite book is Shaoey and Dot. Brooke laughs hysterical when I read it to her. Her favorite part is where the book says, "Dot landed on top of her little friends rear and whispered, I've got some great news."
I can't hardly finish reading the book for Brooke laughing. It shows Dot sitting right on the babies bottom and Brooke thinks that is hysterical. She will beg me to read it again and again.

  • GREAT Layout!

By Blogger Tam, at June 25, 2008 at 8:48 PM

  • OK - Gotta add a few to the list...also including music, too.

Movies - Hope knows and loves the "Baby Signing Time" DVD's. We're getting ready to start with some that are geared for a little older children.

Books - We get a kick out of "But Not the Hippopotamus" by Sandra Boynton. We also like to read "I Love You Through and Through" by Bernadette Rossetti Shustak at bedtime.

Music - Are you familiar with the group "Go Fish"? They are a trio of Christian Fathers and make some awesome music together.

    Enjoy - Beth

  • Oh please count us in...Cinderella is Kira's favorite song right now as well there are many others we really enjoy too. Favorite book is "I Love You Stinky Face" My kids LOVE it and laugh so hard every time we read it as the mother goes on to explain that no matter what her child turned into she would still love him/her just as much even if she was a stinky smelly skunk named "Stinky Face"!

By Blogger my3 kids, at June 25, 2008 at 9:52 PM

  • I'm loving these contests :) The two older girls love the Princess Diaries movies. And I would probably deny it to anyone who asked, but High School Musical (the first one) was actually pretty good too.

As for books, for the preschool set we've always loved A Mother for Choco by Keiko Kasza and any of the Olivia books. The first one talks about how a mother doesn't have to look like you in language that a preschooler would understand :) We also like Just in Case You Ever Wonder by Max Lucado and The Princess and the Kiss by Jennie Bishop.

Lily Mei's favorite movies right now is Island Princess and Nutcracker Barbie. Well, really this is the only two movies she will watch. She calls them "pincess bobee"!!

  • Ok, I know it is over but I still want to play..... hymmmmm one of my favorite kids books is Skippyjon Jones... because he is so stinkin' cute and it is funny to hear me read the story as I attempt to have a hyspanic accent. Guarenteed giggles!
Movie.... the original Parent Trap with Haley Mills, Mareen O'Hara and Bryant Keith.... so many reasons... it is just a fun, wonderful movie with some of my favorites in it!
