Our Magical Getaway

We had a marvelous time. The kids were all on good behavior, they enjoyed every moment... Disney is extra beautiful at Christmas. Epcot is super beautiful in the evening. They have an official tree lighting show every evening. Each country has a show that tells some about their Christmas traditions etc. You could go every night for a while and not see it all. They have the Christmas story narrated by someone every night and a huge choir that sings beautiful Christmas hymns and songs.
It was not near as hard this year, as last year. I actually enjoyed myself more. I did not have to keep telling myself I was having fun this time, I just did:)... Caitlyn was at an age that she was SO in love with all the characters, she was so excited to meet each of them. We would have to drag her away from each. She wanted to keep them all. I would say the only down side of the entire trip is Caitlyn will not let mommy take care of her if daddy is around, so it makes it double hard on daddy. She screeched and went into total meltdown attack if he puts her down. No one can hold her but him. Airplane same thing. I will post a pic of her below that proves this. I don't know if any of this goes back to daddy came to get her in China and so on a trip she needs to make sure she isn't getting left behind? I honestly don't know... We kind of expected it so we were prepared and we just go with it. She was so happy riding the rides and meeting the characters... Every day we would all go out together morning around 10 and around 1-2 I would go back to the cabin at Ft Wilderness and Daddy got free time with Ryan for big kid stuff. Then around 5 ish I would venture out again with the little treasures and meet them around 6 ish for dinner and night fun. Chloe's favorite is Small World and the Parade. Jacob enjoyed meeting the characters the most and the parade as well as Caitlyn, although Caitlyn's other favorite is probably the fireworks, oh and I have to add in Epcot at China the acrobats perform and Caitlyn loved that... she kept saying China and fwip. We did one thing in Magic Kingdom; I can't remember its official name but its a 3d show with Mickey and his orchestra and they actually throw sprinkles of water on you if water is coming at you on the screen, and when they are baking pie you smell it etc. Jacob thought that show was TERRIBLE. Caitlyn and Chloe thought it was super fun, but Jacob was very offended at the way the pie is thrown at you. :)
Caitlyn did super with her potty training. I went to bathrooms constantly and she had 0 accidents until the trip home which I think is super for someone who is not offically the big 3 yet. The silly airplane's potty was not usable and they don't tell you until you are on board and ready to go. grrrrr. SO she was pretty fussy and demanding the hour and a half trip home. I can't blame her. She remembered she could use the potty on the way down so telling her it was broken did not click with her. She just got more and more upset saying she had to go NOW. And of course mommy couldn't hold her or help keep her busy. It had to be daddy. We should have taken separate flights ;0)
We had a magical wonderful time, we love Disney and staying on Disney property is so great. You don't have to think of anything. They get your luggage at the airport take it to your room, take it back to the airport etc. So, no cares really. Just remembering what bus or ferry takes you wherever is all you have to do.
Chloe was chosen to help in the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. Another highlight of her trip. I could read her lips and I saw that when the Disney performer asked her where are you from? Her little lips said Guatemawa. :) We will have to work on that. She knows her address.
We met friends there that live in FL that camped at Ft Wilderness while we were there. They have two children that were adopted from Guatemala as well. The kids all love one another. The kids all had 1 day in the parks together that they enjoyed.

What great character pictures!!! We love Disney so much! Mickey's Philharmagic was the show you saw, and it is my all time favorite. Aladin's magic carpet ride made me squeal! The Lion King show is my all time favorite live show, too. Reading your post made me miss it! Glad you all have a blast!

I love Disney World and can't wait to take the girls there one day! Sweet about Caitlyn and her Daddy, Lottie is becoming that way alot around Elisabeth when she comes home....I think she really misses her!
Too funny about Chloe saying she was from Guatemawa! I don't know about you but everywhere I go with the girls people ask me where they are from...China, Korea, Vietnam etc. What an innocent answer to a confusing question!
Love ALL the pics!!!

What a great post, Connie! I felt like I was at Disney with yall! It brings back great memories of our trip last fall (pre-K. & Q.!) We loved the Philharmagic show, too! And Bug's Life 3D. We stayed in the parks, too. It is so nice, except when it's midnight and you're on the shuttle bus back to the hotel...What a miserable ride! Kids sleeping in the floor of the bus, no seats available...(we went at a very busy time--fall break!)
I am a bit of a Disney World Scrooge. I can only take the "happiest place on earth" for about 3 days and then I've had it! I'm so glad yall had fun and made some great memories!
Now you can gear up for Christmas!
Love,
Laine

What fun!! The character pictures are great. You can see how much the kids enjoyed them! I love the one with Minnie dressed in her Christmas outfit. I didn't realize Disney did so much in celebration of Christmas-we have always been there in spring or summer.
I love the pictures of Caitlyn with her Daddy. Her smile says it all!
So glad you all had a great trip!!

How Fun! Glad the trip was successful--BTW, I would be thrilled if Luci preferred Daddy for *anything*! It wears me out. :) We love Disney World. Congratulations on the potty training, that is terrific. Still working on that one. Oh--I bet you enjoyed the family with kids from Guatemala! That was just a super part of the trip.

I am so glad you are back and had such a wonderful time. Disney is most definitely the most magical place on earth when you have children! I love how Caitlyn is so attached to her daddy. If it makes you feel any better, Linzi has been the same way with her daddy lately. I am like chopped liver when he is around. But I don't mind it one bit because the first year home, she was not so sure of him. We both traveled and she was fine with him in China, but once we got home, she wouldn't even let him hold her or feed her. Only me, and at times, it was grueling and exhausting. In hindsight, we had more bonding issues to work through than I think I realized at the time. Their relationship was a long time coming, so now, it makes my heart soar when she chooses him over me.
Hugs,
Sheryl

Oh how awesome! You were in my neck of the woods. Orlando is only about 2 hours away. It is so much fun...there is so much to do. It really is magical. You got some great shots of all the kids, and it was evident that they were enamoured!

I have been wondering how your trip was. It seemed quick! I loed reading what each child enjoyed specifically. I rmember that show where the water sprinkles out and they throw pie. My boys were not impressed at all.
Disney is so magical. i cannot wait to take Kate there too. But I am afraid of flying so it won't be for a while:)

Oh... makes me ready to go back! Gracie LOVED it when we were there in MArch! She asks every week if we can go back to Disney World again. Harry carried her the same way and he said it will be quite a while before he is ready for round 2!
